NUTRITECH (1st call)
The main objective of the programme is to increase the availability of products and solutions in proper nutrition by 2030, through the implementation of the results of research and development, taking into account the principles of sustainable development.
The specific objectives of the program are:
Implementation of developed solutions (pro-health products, nutritional plans, processes, technologies and accompanying services) reducing the risk of chronic non-communicable diseases (including diet-related diseases).
Implementation of developed solutions (personalized diet, pro-health products, supporting tool, services) addressed to people suffering from chronic non-communicable diseases.
Implementation of the principles of sustainable development through technological solutions in the production and distribution of pro-health food.
As a result of the implementation of the NUTRITECH programme, Polish research units and enterprises will obtain support in developing the ability to create and apply solutions based on the results of scientific research in order to provide a development incentive to the economy and for the social benefit in the following thematic areas:
T1. NUTRIGENOMICS AND BIOMEDICINE AS TOOLS SUPPORTING THE FIGHT AGAINST CHRONIC NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES, INCLUDING DIET-RELATED DISEASES;
T2. FOOD FOR THE TREATMENT AND PREVENTION OF DISEASES;
T3. TECHNOLOGICAL AND ECONOMIC ASPECTS OF PROPER NUTRITION.
Each of the above-mentioned areas was defined by 3 – 6 notions which may become the subject-matter of the implemented projects.
NOTE Persons interested in preparing applications for funding under this call are asked to notify such an intention by 31 July 2022 to the address: awn@wum.edu.pl.
-
Who can apply
Applications may be submitted by:
- enterprises conducting the project independently and implementing the project results or
- enterprises being members of a consortium of a maximum of three enterprises or
- enterprises and research units being members of a consortium, whereas: the consortium is composed of at least one enterprise and at least one research unit,
The consortium leader may be solely an enterprise. The contribution of qualified costs of the enterprise or enterprises in the total qualified costs of the project shall be minimum 50%. The consortium may be composed of a maximum of three entities.
-
What can be funded
The co-funding can be allocated to the implementation of projects that may involve:
- industrial research
- experimental development work,
- pre-implementation (activity encompassing the preparation of results for practical application).
Projects which do not foresee experimental development work shall not receive funding.

Thematic scope
T1. NUTRIGENOMICS AND BIOMEDICINE AS TOOLS SUPPORTING THE FIGHT AGAINST CHRONIC NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES (INCLUDING DIET-RELATED DISEASES)
Aspects discussed within this area:
- Development of innovative dietary solutions basing on biomedical research, including nutrigenomic research, personalised medicine and analysis of nutritional risk factors allowing for reduction of the incidence of diet-related diseases.
- Reliable tools based on scientific facts and tools enabling development of unit nutrition plans reducing incidence of chronic non-communicable diseases.
- Technological solutions using molecular bases of diet-related disease and their impact on individual nutrition plans enabling treatment or relief of disease symptoms.
- Products using genetically and environmentally determined metabolic differences as a component of individual nutrition plans affecting the decrease in incidence of civilisational diseases.
The thematic scope does not encompass research into development and application of dietary supplements.
T2. FOOD FOR THE TREATMENT AND PREVENTION OF DISEASES
Aspects discussed within this area:
- Modern nutritional solutions, e.g. products, technologies, based on the cutting-edge scientific knowledge, in fighting chronic non-communicable diseases.
- Innovative affordable nutritional products, e.g. for diet-related disease patients or people exposed to diet-related diseases or patients in convalescence period, allowing for treatment or alleviation of disease symptoms.
- Application of innovative solutions in functional food to support treatment of oncologic, metabolic, endocrinological or gastroenterological diseases.
- Solutions allowing for improvement of health condition by enrichment of the diet with bioactive substances of determined pro-health effect present in food products.
- Modern products based on various compositions of bioactive substances of natural origin, of unidentified, beneficial biological effect justifying their application in preventive activity and dietotherapy.
The thematic scope does not encompass research into development and application of dietary supplements.
T3. TECHNOLOGICAL AND ECONOMIC ASPECTS OF PROPER NUTRITION
Aspects discussed within this area:
- Back to nature – development of solutions enabling the decrease in the number of food additions and harmful substances in food production and food and agriculture processing without the loss of their nutritional and sensory value, and maintaining ecosystems’ biodiversity and protection.
- Development of innovative products and solutions regarding proper nutrition by means of alternative sources of protein.
- Development of innovative technologies for pro-health, affordable food production.
- Solutions regarding circular economy in healthy food production.
- Solutions enabling verification of authenticity of organic and functional food origin, e.g unification and availability of ingredients, implementation of intelligent food labelling, control of food ingredients as per EU standards.
- Tools enabling food control by means of microbiome analysis, both in products and the processing cycle and increase of the use of microorganisms in food production.
The thematic scope does not encompass research into development and application of dietary supplements.
