STRENGTENING AND DEVELOPMENT OF COOPERATION BETWEEN THE UNIVERSITY OF WARSAW AND THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF WARSAW IN THE PROCESS OF FEDERALISATION

 

 

MUW-UW MICROGRANTS

On 1 October 2018, the call for applications for microgrants for conducting common projects by the researchers from MUW and UW was opened. 

The microgrants shall cover the costs of activities aiming at preparation of a financial project funded from external sources such as the National Science Centre (NCN), National Centre for Research and Development (NCBiR), Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW).

SUBSIDY FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE “MICROGRANT” REGARDING THE COOPERATION BETWEEN UW AND MUW

Objective: to support the potential of the scientific employees of the University of Warsaw and the Medical University of Warsaw to acquire grants for conducting mutual scientific research.

Basic Condition: to declare the application for a grant for conducting a mutual (UW-MUW) scientific study financed from external funds (NCN, NCBiR, MNiSW, H2020 etc.; date, name of call/programme) within up to 12 months as of the date of applying for the microgrant.

Beneficiaries: employees of the departments or basic units of the University of Warsaw and Medical University of Warsaw qualified for the N number and doctoral students planning to undertake an activity aiming at the development of a common project, as well as improvement of their scientific potential and international recognition, contributing to the acquisition of a financial grant from external sources.

Period of Support: up to 9 months. It may be granted once in 12 months (as of the date of settling the previous project).

Conditions of Application: submission of the application covering the information on scientific accomplishments of the Applicants and the plan, schedule and financial outlays for the activity planned.

Examples of Projects: covering of the costs of common activities aiming at the preparation of a project, including: short stays in foreign research centres (e.g. participation in a prestigious international conference, on condition that a lecture is accepted, library query), invitation of an internationally recognized researcher to the UW or MUW, preliminary studies necessary for submitting the application for an external grant, covering of costs of a native speaker proofreading of a scientific text to be published in a journal with IF, co-financing of a stay in conferences/seminars (the conference/seminar programme and/or confirmation of lecture acceptance shall be attached): co-financing may be awarded only for the time of the conference/seminar; possible costs of conference fee must be covered from other sources; the preferred co-financing refers to the cost of ticket purchase.

Evaluation: projects will be verified formally and evaluated by the personnel of the Research UW Support Office and the MUW Department of Science. Final decisions will be taken by the Vice-Rectors for Research Affairs at UW and MUW.

Amount of Funding: to be agreed upon individually, depending on the project. It should not exceed PLN 10 thousand.

Condition of Implementation: obtaining the approval of the deans or heads of the basic units of MUW for project implementation, along with information on the impossibility of financing the activity entirely from the funds of the department/unit.

Subsidy Settlement: the funds awarded under a specific-purpose subsidy are subject to settlement in the UW Research Support Office (for the part financed by UW) and the MUW Department of Science (for the part financed by MUW). To the UW merit-based settlement, a list of the expenses made signed by the competent Bursar’s Proxy at the Department/Unit must be attached and submitted within 30 days as of completing the project). The MUW costs’ settlement shall be made based on the data included in the CF (financial controlling) system.

Additional information: 

  •  A single scientific activity may be co-funded under a subsidy.
  • Remuneration for the activity lead may not be co-funded.
  • Application for financing of activities not included in the available categories require an extended justification.
