Utilization of the Regenerative Potential of Mesenchymal Stem Cells

While there is evidence of the positive effects of MSCs, methods for harvesting cells, culturing and preparing for transplant need to be refined and further optimized. We hypothesized that establishing protocols for high-efficiency harvesting, optimizing cell culture conditions, including a low oxygen environment, as well as safe, clinically applied cell engineering would be critical to maximizing their therapeutic potential. In conclusion, we propose to carry out a complex, multidisciplinary translation of the MSC towards regenerative medicine.
