Application of metrology to the development of quick and reliable methods of measuring clinical parameters helpful in the early diagnosis and treatment of sepsis
The primary goal of the SEPTIMET project is to improve the speed, accuracy and reproducibility of diagnostic tests for the identification and treatment of sepsis. Sepsis is a life-threatening infection in which the timing of diagnosis is critical to a patient's treatment outcome. The project will develop and characterize reference systems to improve the application of existing tests and investigate metrological support for new and innovative therapeutic approaches that offer next-generation diagnostic solutions. In addition, project results will be of use to in vitro diagnostic (IVD) device manufacturers aiming to develop rapid tests to support the treatment of sepsis in order to adapt to changes in EU diagnostic legislation.
