Project Objective

JADE Health is a Joint Action funded by the European Commission in the framework of the EU4Health Programme. JADE Health aims to reduce the burden of dementia and other neurological disorders and to improve the quality of treatment for people living with these diseases.
Background of JADE Health
Mental disorders pose a significant public health challenge due to their prevalence, impact on quality of life and economic burden, calling for demanding policy action.
Neurodegenerative disorders, including dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, are the most common neurological disorder associated with dementia, accounting for 60-70% of all dementia cases, currently affecting over 55 million individuals worldwide, among those nearly 8 million in the European Union. Aging of population will increase this public health and society-wide problem.

Objectives:
JADE Health adopts a comprehensive and holistic approach to healthcare, focusing on multiple dimensions of well-being, from destigmatisation, enhancing preventive measures and early detection strategies to treatment options and the development of effective public policies.

JADE Health integrates validated best practices and cost-effective interventions across countries and regions through transnational pilot initiatives, complementing and reinforcing existing policies and programmes.
Specific objectives
•Ensure that the best practices chosen in JADE Health for implementation across different health systems in Europe lead to sustainability.
•Develop and encourage concrete new collaborations to perform innovative health treatments, equitable access to care and support new policies in the field of dementia and/or other neurocognitive disorders.
•Promote proactive and person-centred new care models techniques and technologies.
•Enhance promotion and prevention interventions targeted to fight stigma, with special attention to vulnerable groups including the elderly.
•Improve the efficiency of promotion and prevention campaigns related to dementia and stroke (and any other neurocognitive disorders).
•Ensure wide and efficient dissemination of JADE Health activities and outcomes to improve health literacy and data accessibility.
