SONATINA 6
The National Science Centre (NCN) has announced the SONATINA 6 call for research projects.
- The main objective of the call is to support the career development of early career researchers by creating opportunities for full-time employment and research in Poland as well as enabling them to gain knowledge and experience during fellowships in first-rate foreign research institutions.
- The call is open to researchers who were conferred their PhD in the year of submitting the application or within 3 years before the year of submitting the application (in the period from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2021) or will be conferred their PhD before the end of June 2022. The 3-year period may be extended by any career breaks laid down in §5 (6) of the Resolution (https://www.ncn.gov.pl/sites/default/files/pliki/uchwaly-rady/2021/uchwala106_2021-zal1.pdf ).
- Employment under a full-time employment contract must be planned for the principal investigator in the planned host institution for the project other than the one from which the principal investigator has earned a PhD degree. The principal investigator must plan and complete a foreign fellowship of from 3 to 6 months in a foreign research institution.
- The principal investigator is obliged to stay for at least 50% of the project duration on the territory of the Republic of Poland and remain at the disposal of the entity implementing the project. The period mentioned shall include trips documented as business delegations being directly connected with the project implemented as well as leaves stipulated by the labour law.
- Proposals must only be submitted electronically via ZSUN/OSF available at: https://osf.opi.org.pl pursuant to the proposal submission procedure.
- The call for proposals in the ZSUN/OSF submission system starts on 16 December 2021 and closes on 15 March 2022, at 4 p.m.; deadline for submission at MUW from 7 January 2022 to 7 March 2022.

Pursuant to the decision of the University Governance, all applications shall require:
- a written approval (e.g. e-mail) of the Head of the Hospital Department/Entity for the project initiator’s conducting the project in the Department,
- a written approval (e.g. e-mail) of the Hospital Director for project implementation:
a) for applications which provide for conducting the project in the MUW’s hospital base,
b) for applications which provide for sharing of the medical data by the Hospital.
Schedule of proposal submission at the Medical University of Warsaw:
- by 30 January 2022 – sending to the address of the MUW Project Support Department (awn@wum.edu.pl) the information about the intention to prepare an application accompanied with the Declaration on the fulfilment of the criteria for the Principal Investigator (item 2-4);
- by 14 February 2022 – sending to the address of the MUW Project Support Department (awn@wum.edu.pl) the proposal in pdf format along with all appendices to be verified by the Department’s staff as well as the approvals of the Head of the Hospital Department/Unit and Hospital Director (if applicable);
- by 21 February 2022 – sending to the address of the MUW Project Support Department (awn@wum.edu.pl) the cooperation agreement to be signed by Mr. Vice Rector for projects implemented by consortia;
- by 7 March 2022 – sending to the address of the MUW Project Support Department (awn@wum.edu.pl) the final version of the proposal in pdf format with appendices TO BE SIGNED.
The deadline for sending approved proposals to be signed by the Vice Rector for Science and Technology Transfer expires on 7 March 2022.
