JPND - EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research

The National Science Centre (NCN), in cooperation with the JPND network (EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research), announces the call for international research projects on mechanisms and biological basis that underlie non-pharmacological interventions with the aim to tailor a holistic personalised approach to the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. The theme of the JPND Call 2022 is:

Understanding the mechanisms of non-pharmacological interventions

The funding may be awarded to international consortia consisting of at least three research teams from at least three different countries participating in the call. However, the consortia may not consist of more than seven research teams. The head of the Polish team must be at least a PhD holder.

 

Countries participating in the call: Australia, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Canada, Luxemburg, Latvia, Germany, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Switzerland, Turkey, Hungary, Italy.

 

The process of application for funding:

 

First stage:

The call for joint pre-proposals is carried out exclusively via the JPND electronic proposal submission tool.  At this stage, the Polish applicants do not file any documents to NCN.

Second stage:

  • international level: preparation of a joint full proposal by the Polish research team in cooperation with foreign partners in English to be submitted in the JPND electronic proposal submission tool.
  • national level: preparation by the Polish research team the national proposal related to the Polish part of the project, which must be submitted to NCN in electronic form via the  ZSUN/OSF system within up to 7 days after the expiry of the deadline for joint full proposals at the international level.

Call schedule:

  • Joint pre-proposals must be submitted no later than: 12:00h C.E.T. on March 1, 2022;
  • Invitation to submit joint full proposals: May 2022;
  • Joint full proposals must be submitted no later than: 12:00h C.E.S.T on June 28, 2022;
  • National proposals must be submitted in the ZSUN/OSF system no later than on: July 5, 2022;
  • Call results: October 2022.

NOTE: Information on the plans/intention to prepare an application should be sent to the MUW Project Support Department (awn@wum.edu.pl) by 1 February 2022 

Pursuant to the decision of the University Governance, all applications shall require:

  • a written approval (e.g. e-mail) of the Head of the Hospital Department/Entity for the project initiator’s conducting the project in the Department,
  • a written approval (e.g. e-mail) of the Hospital Director for project implementation:

a) for applications which provide for conducting the project in the MUW’s hospital base,

b) for applications which provide for sharing of the medical data by the Hospital. 

In the JPND Call 2022  funding can be received for the remuneration of the research team, remuneration and scholarships for students or doctoral students, purchase or manufacturing of scientific and research instrumentation as well as for covering other costs related to the expenses necessary for the research project implementation.

The total amount of the funds allocated by NCN for the implementation of tasks by Polish research teams under the programme is Euro 500 thousand.

The EUR exchange rate at which the budget for the Polish part of the project in the joint proposal shall be calculated is:
EUR 1 = PLN 4.5987.
